N-Control®

Greensmiths, Inc. N-Control® fertilizer is a patented liquid urea sulfate (DCDS) that reduces or completely eliminates volatilization. Volatilization loss is normally associated with nitrogen fertilization, particularly in alkaline situations. Nitrogen can be lost by volatilization and leaching. N-Controls® patented controlled release formulation virtually eliminates losses. Leaching losses are lowered by “spoon feeding” N-Control® through the fertigation system. N-Control® is designed specifically for fertigation in alkaline water. N-Control® adds energy to the irrigation water, increasing infiltration and aeration of media and soils.

Greensmiths recommends that a soil test be utilized in determining the proper use, rates and frequency of applications.

N-Control® vs Slow Release Fertilizers

There are a number of problems that can be encountered with most of the nitrogen fertilizers that are currently being used. When these fertilizers are applied they may be subject to leaching and runoff losses. Additionally, they can suffer denitrification losses through biological and chemical mechanisms. These losses can lead to a 50% loss under many soil conditions. In an 11 year study researchers found ammonium nitrate suffers a 42.3% loss to runoff and perculation, and a volatilization loss of 12% for a total loss of 54.3%. Where as Nitroform suffers a 12.1% loss to runoff and perculation, and a volatilization loss of 44.8%
for a total loss of 56.9%.

Slow release granular fertilizers remaining on the soil surface do not promote deep rooting since the greatest concentration of fertilizer remains on top. Golf course studies show that on closely mowed turf, up to 75% of granular nitrogen could be lost in mowing. N-Control® is 100% soluble and moves to the soil solution where mowers cannot pick it up. Since N-Control® moves into the soil instead of on top of the soil, roots move down
to find N-Control®.

N-Control® is immediately available to the plant and protected from environmental volatilization, which allows the micro-feeding of nitrogen to exactly control plant utilization.

Urea is known to be readily absorbed as an intact molecule by roots and leaves. Once it is absorbed however, it must be hydrolyzed which requires energy from the plant. N-Control® can be absorbed by roots and leaves and it will enhance the level of energy within the plant without the need to be hydrolyzed. When N-Control® is absorbed through the foliage it enters directly into the metabolic complex of the cell. Thus, adding energy and reliving stress.

Designing the Perfect Nitrogen Fertilizer

A logical and realistic approach to the development of new N fertilizers should begin first with basic plant physiological studies. It is necessary to determine what forms of organic and inorganic N are readily absorbed and assimilated by different agronomic crops. Additionally, we need to determine under specific environmental conditions as well. N-Control® is organic by chemical definition and is readily absorbed intact by both roots and foliage of crop plants.

The next stop would be concerned with finding ways of allowing these molecules to enter directly into biosynthetic pathways after absorption. Thus, resulting in a greater growth potential of molecules that can be absorbed and assimilated intact with out prior degradation to basic components. N-Control® has excess electron that are released once in the plant, similar to adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

In efforts to increase the efficiency of existing N fertilizers or to develop entirely new N fertilizers, there is a tendency to neglect certain biochemical principles for what is chemically or physically feasible. Basic plants physiological studies are needed to determine the absorptive, assimilatory, and capabilities of our crop plants. With these answers, a number of biochemical considerations or approaches has enabled us to greatly increase
the efficiency of fertilizer nitrogen through N-Control®.

N-Control® is a fertigation product and should not be used as a spray. Store N-Control® in poly, stainless steel, or fiberglass tanks. Do not use mild steel or aluminum. Do not mix N-Control® with alkaline products.
